The Nelson North Country Club, located in Wakapuaka (12 minutes north of Nelson CBD) just oozes in history.  It has always been a place where people have met and enjoyed each other’s company.

Before becoming the Nelson North Country Club, it was the Wakapuaka General Store – we still have members whose families were former owners.  Before becoming the general store it was the Black Horse Hotel.  It had a sign hanging outside stating that it was the last licensed house for 38 miles.  As the licensing laws at the time stated that if people had travelled more than four miles, well then they could be served with drinks.....   There have been many changes to the licencing and liquor laws since then....

The Nelson North Country Club has, for over 40 years, been the hub of the community lending itself to be a great way to meet the community, share stories, and have fun getting involved.  It welcomes members, their guests, visitors from affiliated clubs and new memberships which are open to all aged 18 and over.

The Nelson North Country Club has a huge range of organised activities such as Speed Shearing, The Hira Hop, Fishing Competition, Family Bake Offs, The Amazing Race, Local Crafts Markets, Quiz and Bingo Nights, Card Nights and much more.... All the activities are posted onto the Events CalendarThe Club also has a darts and pool team for both adults and our younger members.  Both teams welcome new players and have fun competing in local Nelson competitions.

Each Friday evening the Bistro is open for dinner.  You will find it buzzing with local families with their visitors or just the families having a treat.

Members and Non Members are able to hire the Club as venue for their special events and private function.
