Given the current Omicron situation, we have decided to cancel the Speed Dating event until things settle down.
Meanwhile, we are open as usual but please see the message below, as we need to observe government regulations.
Significant changes to mask requirements:
- Masks must now be worn at food and drink businesses, it’s events and gatherings – this includes The Nelson North Country Club.
-
- Exemptions apply while eating and drinking. You may remove your masks while eating and/or drinking but must wear a mask at all other times
- Masks do not need to be worn when the entire premises has been exclusively hired for a gathering.
- Face coverings must now be an actual mask – scarves, bandannas or t-shirts pulled up over faces are not suitable
- Management and all other staff who are legally mandated to be vaccinated, will wear a medical grade mask, for example a type 2R, level 2 mask or above (this includes blue medical grade masks) at all times while working in the club
The above changes will come into effect on Thursday, February 3 (8 days from now).
The Government will outline the three-stage plan around dealing with Omicron. We will update any relevant information that my affect you while visiting your club.
Gatherings and events
Gatherings and events have slightly different rules – if the club has been exclusively hired then the following rules apply:
- A wedding/birthday or other celebration can be held if the club has been exclusively hired and attendees of that gathering may dance, eat, drink etc.
- Also a sports tournament of up to 100 people can be held and participants can play pool, snooker, darts etc. if the club has been exclusively hired for this event – likewise the Sports tournament could exclusively hire the club and hold an adjunct evening and attendees of that gathering can dance, eat and drink
HOWEVER, (and this is the most common for our club), if the Club is not exclusively hired (in other words, there’s shared airflow between spaces and groups, other people can move through and mingle with other groups), food and beverage service must be seated and separated. This means that dancefloors, pool, and other recreational activities cannot operate during food and beverage service.
As always we the committee must interpret and share guidance that is consistent with the law/public health order and advice from various Government Departments.
This sudden move back to red is incredibly challenging and we thank you in advance for your cooperation, patience and support.
